This course aims to provide students with basic production level skills in manufacturing, engineering and related industry areas. Students will gain the competencies required by an entry level worker in this field.

NEWMAN 2017 GRADUATE

Mitchell graduated in 2017 with a School-based Apprenticeship at Birdon Marine, he has recently finished his Apprenticeship and is now a qualified Mechanical Engineer in Fitting and Machinery.

Manufacturing & Engineering FAQ's

Pretty much. In the manufacture of some projects, materials such as manufactured board may be used .

Generally two out of the four periods per week are theory based. Theory covers knowledge relating to engineering skills (eg. welding) but also knowledge content about industry practice, WHS etc.)

No! There are no pre-requisites and all topics start from the basics and ‘newbies’ are strongly encouraged to enrol.

Yes. Like all VET courses, units of competencies within the course are nationally accredited and can contribute to post school courses including trade courses.

Engineering trades (Mechanical – ‘Fitting & Machining’); Engineering trades (Fabrication – ‘Boilermaker’) and would also be useful for any trades involving measuring, welding, operating equipment and machinery.
