NEWMAN 2013 GRADUATE

After completing a Cert III in Tourism, Travel and Events and graduating from Newman College, Jamie moved to Santa Ponca, Mallorca, Spain where she worked as a stewardess on board a cruise vessel travelling through the Mediterranean.

Yes. It will recover as we move forward. International travel may take a little longer, BUT domestic travel will start again in 2021 and when it does the industry will be looking for skilled workers.

The local tourism industry is very supportive of our students. We partner with some of the accommodation facilities, the local attractions and the local council. In Year 11 the students complete many of their required hours helping out with local events

Yes, if you have a contact in the tourism industry.

Yes. This is a new course to Newman College and in the past two years of the course, we have had been successful in securing School-based Traineeships with Rydges.

The course introduces students to the tourism industry, how to book and sell tourism products and services. In addition the students are introduced to Australia and the world as a tourism destination. Where to go, how to get there and what to do there.

This is a qualification that focuses on developing skills that will be beneficial and relevant within all industries. Tourism compliments many of the other VET subjects, such as Hospitality, Business Services and Retail Services. Furthermore, it exposes students to many of the wonderful places within the world.

Accommodation, beach / ski resorts, cruise companies, airlines, attractions, tour companies, tour guides, tourism information centers.

Yes, traditionally there has been. The students are exposed to tourism attractions in Sydney. We are hoping to take a group to the Gold Coast in 2021.

This is correct. Tourism students have previously been offered an opportunity to go to Fiji on a cultural visit. Depending on COVID-19, this opportunity will be offered to students who will be in Year 12 in 2022.
